1. The first six graphs show OpenGL speed. Notice we sorted each graph with the fastest at the top and slowest at the bottom. The Radeon HD 7950 Mac Edition wasn’t the slowest or the fastest. It’s best described as ’mid pack.’2. Examining the five Pro Apps which use OpenCL and/or CUDA acceleration, theRadeon HD 7950 Mac Edition was fastest in some cases and slowest in others. Hopefully a few driver tweaks will produce a more consistent picture of its potential.3. Some graphics accelerated apps will not benefit from a faster GPU. A good example of that is Team Fortress 2’sone minute of mayhem. Settings are 2560x1440 Fullscreen, vSync OFF, Best Settings, Anti Aliasing 8X. (LONGEST bar indicates FASTEST in frames per second.)Notice that the Mac Pro GPUs all hit the wall at 72 FPS. The 2012 iMac with the GTX 680MX goes 10 FPS faster because of its faster PCIe architecture. (See next graph below.) If and when Apple releases a Mac Pro with an Ivy Bridge Xeon processor and PCIe 3.0 bus, I believe we will see even faster performance for all the GPUs we tested.4. Based on the OceanWave GPU-to-PCIe-to_CPU bus speed test, the Radeon HD 7970 is running as a PCIe 1.0 card instead of PCIe 2.0. The same is true for the GeForce GTX 690. However, that fact only seemed to slow them down in a few cases -- which tells me either the bus was not saturated or there is very little back-and-forth between the CPU and GPU during the tests.The FurMark OpenGL exhibits the potential of the Radeon HD 7970.UNFLASHED ’Windows Only’ GPU CAVEATS
When you used OS X 10.8.3 to boot your Mac Pro with GPUs lacking ’OS X aware’ firmware, there is no Apple logo white startup screen. It goes straight to Finder (or the User Login screen). This isn’t a problem until you want switch boot volumes by holding down the Option key during Restart or Power Up. That does not work. However, you can still choose other boot volume(s) in the OS X System Preferences > Startup Disk. If you are running Windows in a Boot Camp volume, you can use the special Boot Camp Control Panel to choose the OS X Startup Disk. You can also reset the PRAM at Restart or Power Up, thereby forcing it to boot with the default OS X volume.As indicated above, some unflashed GPUs don’t run at the full PCIe 2.0 bus speed (e.g. Radeon HD 7970 GHz and GeForce GTX 690.) That may or may not limit performance, depending on what apps and what functions you choose.NOTE: The Radeon HD 7950 is compatible with all existing Mac Pros from 2008 - 2012 (though Sapphire is officially specifying 2010 and after). Correction on Compatibility (March 20th) -- See red text under RecommendationFinally! After three years, a new ’blessed’ GPU for the Mac Pro running OS X: the Sapphire Radeon HD 7950 Mac Edition. I’m sure it has piqued the curiosity of every Mac Pro owner wishing for a faster GPU. So how fast is it? Let’s get right to the test results. GRAPH LEGEND

All Mac Pro GPUs above were in a in a ’Mid 2010’ Mac Pro 3.33GHz Hex-Core. The two iMac GPUs (the GTX 675MX and 680MX) were embedded in the ’Late 2012’ (27’) iMac 3.4GHz Core i7. All Macs were running OS X 10.8.3. The AMD GPUs required a patch to run Heaven and Valley. AMD compatible versions of those apps will soon be available to all users.Blackmagic Design’s DaVinci Resolve 9adds speed and power to color grading of HD video. By entering ’-LeaderBenchmark’ in the Properties > Set Launch Options, it runs through multiple animated sequences of the various World Leaders. Though it does not simulate real game play, it is GPU intensive. Resolution was 2560x1440 with FullScreen ON. Quality settings were on ’Medium’ with one exception -- Texture Quality was set to ’High.’ VSync and High Detail Strategic View were both OFF. (LONGER bar means FASTER.)Feral Interactive’s Dirt 2has a built-in benchmark where Travis Pastrana races 7 clones of himself in a winner take all one lap race on a dirt track with puddles of water. We used best quality settings at 2560x1440. Results are average frames per second. (LONGEST bar means FASTEST.)ANALYSIS
1. With one exception (Motion), the Radeon HD 7950 is a significant improvement over the two GPUs Apple offers currently as factory options for the Mac Pro (Radeon HD 5770 and 5870).2. The Radeon HD 7950 is clear winner over the current optional Quadro 4000 for Mac kit sold on the Apple Store. It also handily beats the GeForce GTX 285 -- a card once offered in a kit but no longer in production. Many Mac Pro owners likely still have it installed.3. We included the 2012 iMac’s GeForce GTX 680MX as what we consider the strongest existing NVIDIA competition to the AMD GPUs. As you can see the Radeon HD 7950 beats it or ’meets’ it in four out of the seven tests we featured. And in all but one test, it is ’in the conversation.’ The GTX 680MX is a ’mobile’ GPU and currently only available to Mac users in the 2012 iMac, but it shows you the potential if a company decided to offer an OS X compatible GeForce GTX 680 GPU or something similar. (NOTE: NVIDIA has announced the Quadro K5000 for Mac -- it is expected to ship soon.)RECOMMENDATION
If you have a Mac Pro running a Radeon HD 5770, Radeon HD 4870, GeForce GTX 285, Quadro 4000, GeForce GT120, GeForce 8800 GT, the new Sapphire Radeon HD 7950 would make a very strong upgrade. The only exception to this advice would be if you are running pro apps whose only GPU acceleration relies on CUDA support. One recent example is Octane Render. In that case, you must hope for a newer, faster NVIDIA CUDA ’aware’ GPU that is OS X compatible. NEWS FLASH: EVGA will be selling a Mac Edition of the GeForce GTX 680. We will be testing it and adding those results to this page.CORRECTION: The Radeon HD 7950 is compatible with all existing Mac Pros from 2008 - 2012 (though Sapphire is officially specifying 2010 and after). An important part of it is applications for capturing the device screen. Recently we’ve reviewed screen recording apps that are mostly for Windows, and now we’d like to take a look at screen capture software for Mac.
Screen capturing programs, from applications for mobile phones to PC desktop versions, differ in capabilities, design, etc. Purposes may be different – recording tutorials, remote lessons, reviews, streams, gameplay, and so on. Today we’re reviewing several screen capture applications for macOS. Apple is known for creating simple, functional and quality products. So no surprise that macOS native software has a screen capture function. QuickTime Player is Apple’s proprietary software that is a multimedia framework, also utilized by applications such as iTunes, Final Cut Pro, iMovie, Adobe Photoshop, Corel VideoStudio.
Ableton 7 for mac download. To start recording, a user has to choose among three available options:
*New Movie Recording – capturing from a web camera.
*New Audio Recording – capturing sound from any connected microphone.
*New Screen Recording – screen capture.
After that a recording window will appear. Unfortunately, system sounds recording is not available; only audio from the external microphone or without sound at all. Yet visual display of mouse movement is present, and it is really helpful for tutorial videos.
Press the record button and see a notification with advice on capture area: a particular part or the entire screen. A single click anywhere will start capturing the whole screen. Video resolution depends on monitor specs. Videos are saved by default in the highest available resolution, alternatively users have a few options in the Export As menu. Pros

OBS is a classic screen capture software for Mac that also contains streaming functions. It brings a massive set of tools and application settings. During the first launch the system will display security notification. You’ll need to click the Open button (or go to System Preferences – Security & Privacy), such alert often comes up in applications from the App Store.
Auto-Configuration Wizard helps to choose the primary purpose – streaming or screen capture, FPS, etc. It will determine the optimal quality, resolution, recording format, and other settings. OBS offers a lot of presets, e.g. gaming, entire screen, application window, browser. Choose what to record and click the Start Recording button in the bottom.
After recording, the video is automatically saved in the default directory. Available formats: .mov, .flv, .mp4, .mkv, .ts, .m3u8. Scrolling through the Application Settings, we found some interesting features beside localization, automatic update, hotkeys assignment. The first one is auto screen capture when streaming begins. Also, streaming to over 50 different services, as well as assigning a delay – to control unpredictable situations. Pros

Monosnap is a simple program to take screenshots, record a screen and make GIF images. Users can select a specific part of the screen, a separate window, or the entire screen. The program does not have a typical interface – only the icon appearing on the top to click and select the task.
Useful features: webcam recording during screen capture, save and edit window, upload to YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, Google Drive, Dropbox, or email. The default format is MP4. The Drag Me button is a way to move a file wherever you want without releasing the mouse. There is also assignment of hotkeys, though this is a familiar option for any screen capture software for Mac. Pros

VLC is a popular media player, but few people know it has a screen capture function, as well as recording from a webcam, a microphone. So let’s focus on this for now. First, enable it in the settings, choose a device to record, frame-per-second ratio, etc. To start, click the Record button in playback drop-down menu and the Stop button to finish.
Files are saved by default to the Movies directory on Mac in AVI format and high quality. Consequently, file sizes will be quite large, for instance a 30-seconds video takes 600-700 MB. Unfortunately, we did not find options to change format or quality. Yet, RAM load remains acceptable (~100 Mb). Pros

This app is not authorized by the App Store, therefore there may be difficulties in installing it, macOS may even block it. We can get around this protection and manually enable the installer in the Security & Privacy Settings. In the main window there are three functions: screen capture, merging videos and cropping. MFSR is notable because it does not have any settings – you can only change the folder and audio source.
Users can see useful information during recording: duration, file size, etc., which is updated in real-time. After stopping the recording, a video file is automatically saved in the selected directory. Video files are in MP4 and a 3-minute clip is about 10 Mb in size. Since there are no settings it is not possible to configure video quality, but overall the app is quite suitable for simple tasks. Pros

In our opinion, these applications turn out to be the best free screen capture software for Mac at the moment. There are no ads, no Pro or Premium versions, as well as recording time limits. All of them perfectly perform the main task, some offer extra features or settings. For casual use to capture screen once in a while, the default macOS app (QuickTime Player) will be enough.

As you switch and modify your view, it’s as though you’re looking through a camera.
SketchUp’s Camera menu also has three perspective options, shown in the following figure, that change how you view your model:
*Parallel Projection: In this view, lines appear parallel in both 3D and 2D space. This view is also known as an orthographic view. When you print in this view, line length has a scale (for example 4’ in SketchUp = 1’ on paper). (Callout 1)
*Perspective: In this view, lines vanish to a horizon, so certain items appear closer while other items appear to be far away. Entities are not to scale. This is SketchUp’s default view. (Callout 2)
*Two-Point Perspective: Illustrators often use two-point perspective to draw 3D buildings and concept art. Orbiting enables you to view geometry from the outside. To rotate the camera about a model, activate the Orbit tool (), which you find in the following areas of the SketchUp interface:

In SketchUp, as in many other programs, you can zoom in for an extreme close up, or zoom out to see the bigger picture. As you draw a 3D model, zooming in can help you align edges and faces more precisely, whereas zooming out enables you to see your overall model or re-orient yourself so you can find a different part of your model to work on.
SketchUp also has two specialized zoom tools, Zoom Extents () and Zoom Window (), which you learn about later in this section.
In the SketchUp interface, here’s where you find the Zoom tool ():

To zoom in and out, follow these steps:
*Select the Zoom tool () or press the Z key.
*Click and drag up to zoom in; click and drag down to zoom out. When you zoom by dragging the Zoom tool cursor, SketchUp zooms in or out from the center of the screen.Note: The zoom speed depends how far your geometry is from the Zoom cursor. To zoom in on a specific rectangular portion of your model, use the Zoom Window tool. (You find Zoom Window in the same places where you find the Zoom and Zoom Extents tools, with the exception of the Getting Started toolbar.) To zoom in on a portion of your model:
*Select the Zoom Window tool ().
*Click and drag to make a box appear around the area that you want to zoom in on. When you release the mouse button, everything in the box you drew fills the drawing area.Changing the field of view or focal length
A lesser-known Zoom tool feature is changing the field of view, or how much of your model you can see. Because your view in SketchUp is like looking through a camera, you can adjust the field of view in degrees. Alternatively, change the focal length using millimeters, as you do in a camera.Tip: If you’re unfamiliar with the field-of-view concept, think of it this way: Humans have a field of view that’s about 180 degrees in front of them. If you narrowed that field to 90 degrees, you’d lose your peripheral vision.
To adjust the field of view or focal length, follow these steps:
*Select the Zoom tool or press the Z key. You can also select Camera > Field of View from the menu bar.
*Type a value in degrees or millimeters, respectively. For example, typing 45 deg sets a 45 degree field of view; typing 35 mm sets a focal length equivalent to a 35mm camera. Or, to visually adjust the field of view, hold down the Shift key while dragging the Zoom tool.Tip: Wider fields of view are useful when working inside a room, where you might want to see more of the room as you draw. The following figure shows the same room at two different fields of view. In the top figure, the field of view is 35 degrees. You can immediately change the drawing window to any of the standard views by selecting Camera > Standard Views and selecting your desired view from the submenu. The most known consumer software from Apple is macOS for computers and laptops, and iOS for smartphones, but that wasn’t always the case.
Apple’s story starts back in 1976 when it was founded by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Ronald Wayne. By the end of 1970’s, they had already launched their first products, Apple I, II, and III. However, Apple’s first success came with the Macintosh models in the 80’s.Macintosh
The first Macintosh was introduced in 1984, which was Apple’s first mass-produced personal computer with a graphical user interface.
Macintosh computers run the Macintosh System Software operating system, which was later rebranded into Mac OS in 1996.
The brand changed several times through the years. In 2001 it became Mac OS X, until 2010 that changed again to just ’OS X.’ From 2016, we know it as macOS.Building A Mac Computer

First of all, some users prefer macOS over Windows, but they don’t want to spend a fortune on buying a Mac.

Psystar Corporation was a company that sold Mac clones. The term refers to computers that run Mac OS, but are made and manufactured by third-party companies.
